Another of his passions was Marching Band Color Guard. He designed and choreographed the flags and movements of numerous award-winning university and high school color guards in Arizona, Nevada, Washington, and Ohio. His love of marching bands goes back to his own accomplishments as a musician, particularly as a percussionist from early childhood. He had marched with two Drum Corps International (DCI) drum and bugle corps, "The Blue Knights" and "Suncoast Sound" in the 1980's. From 2006-2010, Matthew was a member of the Seattle Seahawks drumline, "Blue Thunder," He performed with them at many NFL games. One of his great memories was performing with "Blue Thunder" at Superbowl XL (2006) in Detroit. In addition to his secular musical accomplishments, Matthew also had received a hierarchal blessing to be a bell ringer in the Russian Orthodox tradition. He served as "zvonik" at St Paul the Apostle Orthodox Church, Las Vegas and St Sergius of Radonezh Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Parma OH.
