Helen Maud Sherrod, 84, of Sarasota FL., formerly Bridgeport, CT., passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2015. She was born to the late Elijah Jefferson Marbury, Sr. and Willie Roberta McCarroll Marbury on May 26, 1930. Helen graduated from Central High School in Bridgeport and from Talladega College in Talladega, Alabama. She later married Thomas A. Sherrod, who'd served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Helen graduated from Central High School in Bridgeport and from Talladega College in Talladega, Alabama. She later married Thomas A. Sherrod, who'd served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Helen was a devoted educator who retired after teaching over twenty-five years at Columbus School in Bridgeport. Helen left to cherish her memory, her husband, Thomas Sherrod; daughter, Pamela A. Sherrod; son, Todd M. Sherrod and daughter-in-law, Yelitza Sherrod; two grandsons, Nicholas Sherrod and Jonah Sherrod; three granddaughters, Sandra Sherrod, Jessica Sherrod and Kayla Sherrod; two sisters, Marcia (William) M. Riley and Antoinette (Frank) M. DaCruz; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Helen is predeceased by her parents; two brothers, E. Jefferson Marbury, Jr. and James Marbury; five sisters, Ethel M. Howell, Gladys M. Baldwin, Althea M. Fletcher, Myrtle M. Carter and Dorothy Smith.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 2:00pm at Covenant Church of Easton, 1 Sport Hill Road, Easton, Connecticut 06612.
